To get started, all you need is a Rutgers NetID and a password to login to the Degree Navigator program.
A Windows operating system is recommended for optimal performance; however, you can use any operating system capable of running a web browser.
The preferred web browser for this application is Microsoft Internet Explorer (version 5.0 or later for PC or MAC) but you can also use:
- Netscape Navigator (version 6.0 or later for PC or MAC)
- Firefox (version 1.5)
If you have problems running this application on a PC, ensure that Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.4 or higher is installed on your machine. If needed, download JRE from Sun.
If you have problems running this application on a MAC, ensure that Macintosh Runtime for Java (MRJ) 2.2 or higher is installed on your machine. If needed, download MRJ from Apple.
This application is best viewed with full-screen (maximized) browser window with a screen resolution of 1152 X 864.
Dial-up users may experience slow response times; therefore, a broadband connection is recommended.

Your session will time out if you are logged in but have not used the application for several minutes. If your session times out, when you next click on a link or button, you will be redirected to the login page. To continue your session, just log in again.
