Use the guidance below for common Degree Navigator access and system issues.

Degree Navigator is unavailable daily from 8:30 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. for maintenance.

NetID or Password Problem

Degree Navigator uses Rutgers authentication. If your NetID or password is not working, or you are unable to complete Rutgers authentication, contact Rutgers IT Help Desk.

You Are Not Authorized to Access This Site

If you normally have access to Degree Navigator and receive an authorization message, close your Degree Navigator session and browser, then sign in again. Clearing browser cache and site data may also help if the browser is retaining an old session.

If the problem continues, the next step depends on your role.

Degree Navigator Is Not Loading or Audits Are Not Running

Check the Alerts and Maintenance page for a current service notice. If no issue is posted and the problem continues, contact Degree Navigator support with a brief description of the problem.

A Course or Requirement Looks Incorrect

This is usually an academic or Degree Navigator programming question rather than a browser problem. Contact the academic department responsible for the program or Degree Navigator support.

Advisor Cannot Enter an Exception

Exception permissions are separate from general advisor access and may be limited to specific programs. Review the Degree Navigator Advisor Access page and contact Degree Navigator support if your authorized permissions appear incorrect.

Reporting a Technical Problem

When contacting support, include the page or function you were using, the message you received, and the approximate time of the problem. For student specific Degree Navigator questions, include the student’s Rutgers ID and a brief description of the audit issue.
